Date Posted: Monday 26th September 2011
Further international expansion follows the successful growth of operations in Europe and the United States, coupled with the significant growth of its UK operation
Events for clients and candidates planned in London to coincide with the launch
VMA Group has announced the growth of its international network with the opening of its new Asia-Pacific operation, headquartered in Hong Kong, with significant reach to other core Asia-Pacific markets.
The news follows the successful establishment of VMA Group’s operation in Europe, headquartered in Brussels, to cover wider European territories, and the partnership agreement with US based Patino Associates, headquartered in Washington.
Katrina Andrews, formerly Managing Director of Melcrum’s Asia-Pacific region, has been appointed to manage VMA Group’s Asia-Pacific offering. Having worked in both Hong Kong and Sydney, Katrina brings more than seven years’ experience of building business within the communications arena.
Reporting to VMA Group Executive Chairman, Julia Meighan, and working alongside Oskar Yasar, Managing Director of VMA International, Katrina’s objective is to establish VMA Group’s Asia-Pacific operation. She will focus not only on growing its Hong Kong base but also establishing a presence within the wider Asia-Pacific rim including China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan, with satellite operations in Sydney and Melbourne.
The Asia-Pacific operation will replicate the focus on corporate and internal communications and investor relations roles across the UK, Europe and the United States.
The opening of its Asia-Pacific operation is part of VMA Group’s continuing international development and part of its three-year plan to establish and strengthen operations across Europe, the US, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Australia. All entities will strive to offer the same stringent service levels for clients and candidates on an international scale. The additional office will enable VMA Group to present a broader range of job opportunities to corporate communications professionals who are interested in developing their skills outside of the UK and mainland Europe.
Julia Meighan, Group Executive Chairman of VMA Group, said, “This exciting news follows seven years of unprecedented growth for VMA Group and highlights the ambition of our 50-strong team to be the world’s leading provider of dedicated corporate communications and PR talent.
“Taking our first steps into Asia-Pacific, along with our market leading operations in both the UK and Europe and our strategic alliance in the US, is incredibly heartening - it strengthens our service to our clients and candidates who are searching for global expertise, talent and roles.”
Commenting on her appointment, Katrina Andrews, Director, VMA Group Asia-Pacific, said: “I am excited by the opportunity to help build VMA Group’s Asia-Pacific practice, brand and service offering. With the growth in migration of talent across the globe to Asia-Pacific, the international demand for professional and trusted recruiters in the communications space has naturally increased. This trend, coupled with our strong relationships with UK, European and US-based clients and candidates means that we are starting our operations from a position of strength.”
